5 Ways Hygge Uses Intentional Living

There are many ways Hygge uses Intentional living, but I’ve broken it down into 5 categories to simplify it for you.

  1. Building Relationships – intentionally spending time with friends, and family to build relationships. It is also able to do activities and creating common interests so your relationships are simple, easy, and not forced.
  2. Home decor – intentionally adding nature and texture into your home decor, keeping items in your home that have a story for you, and displaying pictures that bring happiness to your day. If you need ideas for bringing nature indoors (without needing a green thumb) or adding texture to your home decor (because you aren’t an interior designer) click on the links provided.
  3. Hobbies – intentionally finding hobbies that help break up the boring routines you’ve created. These might be crafts or games or sports that you have wanted to try for a while. Maybe it’s learning how to run, or ax throwing, or snowboarding, or painting. Whatever you desire, try it. Meet new people, do it with someone special, or make it some much deserved “me” time.
  4. Get Moving Outside – intentionally getting outdoors and being more active. The Danes prefer being outside for their activity. Any time they can connect with nature and doing a healthy activity is Hygge. Being active is a natural part of their life, so they don’t feel guilty enjoying some of the sweet, comfort foods once in a while.
  5. Self-care – this is a BIG one for busy moms! Are you ready? Here it goes! Hygge intentionally makes the time to add self-care into their daily routines. Taking afternoon breaks at work so that you can be more productive and build a team atmosphere by connecting with your coworkers. Taking time to decompress in the evening and on weekends so that you don’t burn out from stress.

You need to take care of yourself, so you can be your best you.

Hygge is not something our busy lives can just magically make happen. We need to be intentional about doing these 5 Hygge lifestyle choices. Do you need to do all of them? No. Start with one, then add another. Make it into a new routine that becomes natural and adds value to your life. The goal is to create more balance so that you can start living your life again.

Which one will you start with today?
