Hygge Helps With Gratitude | 30 Days of Hygge Challenge

Sharing is caring!

It’s been a busy day and the long list of things yet to do is bouncing around in that busy mom’s brain of yours. I can relate. How can you relax when there is so much more to do? What if you forget about that important task that needs to get done? Have you lost your mind yet? Life can be tough, but Hygge helps with gratitude.

It’s day 22 of my 30 days of Hygge challenge and I was tasked today to write in a journal or write to someone I love. Seems simple, after all, spreading happiness is Hygge. But how do you do it when “all of the other things” aren’t done yet?

One of the lessons I’ve consistently learned with Hygge so far is that I need to intentionally decide to follow through with making these small changes to my routines. Over time, with practice, habits will start to form and I’ll get better at living a better Hygge lifestyle.

Hygge Helps with Gratitude

When trying to slow the busy mom brain, a great tool that has helped me for years is a journal. You can jot the list of items that need to get done tomorrow. Tomorrow is the keyword in that sentence. You need to give yourself permission to put the list aside for tonight so you can relax and enjoy some time with the family.

A journal can be used to reflect on your day. If you can consistently write in the journal it can be helpful for finding opportunities for growth. John C. Maxwell talks about how we can use a journal to intentionally transform the negative words we are using into positive changes in our lives. By looking at the words we are using in the journal entries we can see a common theme. If we are consistently using a word that doesn’t work with our life goals, then we can find ways to change that area of our life.

Having a beautifully bound journal and a pen that inspires you to express your gratitude is one way to help transform your personal life. There are 7 benefits of gratitude that will help your health and mindfulness overall.

Now that you are spending valuable moments expressing gratitude for your own life, why not share that gratitude with others? Send a note of thanks to someone you love and appreciate. You can send a text, leave a voice mail, or send an email. These are all nice but there truly is nothing better than a card or a letter.

“At times, our own light goes out and is rekindled by a spark from another person. Each of us has cause to think with deep gratitude of those who have lighted the flame within us” – Albert Schweitzer

I don’t know if it is the handwritten messages that give it a personal touch or the fact that you thought enough of them to pick out a card or to take the time to write them a special message just for them. In today’s busy lifestyle, everyone would know what taking that time to send them this love took time out of your busy day. As someone that is most likely busy themselves, they would appreciate that love and would feel extremely special themselves.

Hygge helps with gratitude. Gratitude helps your health and can help build stronger relationships with those you love. It’s easy to use technology to express your gratitude but I’m going to challenge you to take it one step further by sending a note using snail mail. It may take longer but it will be appreciated that much more.
