Bubbles and Bath Salts are Hygge | 30 Days of Hygge Challenge

Sharing is caring!

I’m going to get right to the point. Today’s task in my 30 days of Hygge challenge just got real. I thought a family game night during the week was a challenge, but finding time for a bath is hard for this busy mom! However, if bubbles and bath salts are Hygge and it will help slow life down, I’ll complete the task.

Why is it that busy moms put themselves last on the list?

How hard is a bubble bath really?

It’s hard! (or is this just me!)

Don’t get me wrong. I love a great bubble bath. In fact, the new bathroom reno in our basement will have a modern-day soaker tub that looks very similar to the old-style clawfoot tubs. I’ve always wanted one of those, so when I found something that would work for the new bathroom I ordered it immediately.

I don’t have bubble baths often enough. Instead, they get put off and I push through the aches and pains of being on my feet 10 hours a day. My feet hate me and by the end of the week, I often go to bed with shooting pains in my toes, feet, and legs. So why not have a hot bath to relieve the pain?

Simple. It’s the work to clean the tub before preparing the bath. Then cleaning the tub after the bath. I’m overthinking this? If so please share your tips below in the comments. I truly want more baths in my life.

Bubbles and Bath Salts are Hygge

Let’s talk about the power of water therapy. Water therapy to me is soaking your tired feet in a foot spa or having a hot bath. It’s also allowing yourself to stay in the shower a little longer to let the hot water massage your head and neck as it washes the tension away.

To me, a shower and bath have similar health benefits for your self-care. The difference is you can sit and relax longer in the bath. However, you will need to find the time without kids knocking on the door trying to get you to do something.

How do I find the time for a hot bath? I’ll sneak it in after the kids go to bed, or this morning I had one before the rest of the family woke up for the day.

I’ll draw the bath and add my scented bath salts or relaxing bath foam. I don’t use oils as often because I hate the cleanup afterward. However, if my skin has been dry, the oils are a great remedy for that too.

I’m finding that living a Hygge lifestyle isn’t always easy. You have to learn to intentionally choose to do more self-care and to nurture your relationships with those you love. When you take the easy route and do what you’ve always done, life doesn’t slow down as much and it becomes boring at times.

I’m going to intentionally decide to have more baths. Maybe my feet and legs will like me more! I know that one thing for sure. Life slows down just a little while I’m soaking in that bath. I can turn my busy mom brain down a notch or two and just enjoy the heat of the water and read my book in the quiet space.

How about you? Will you pledge to take more baths?
