Adding Meditation to Hygge Life | 30 Days of Hygge Challenge
It is Day 5 of my 30 days of Hygge challenge and I was tasked to either do yoga or spend time meditating at the end of the workday. If you have been following this Hygge journey, welcome back! If this is the first time you’ve heard of Hygge, you aren’t alone. Many of us are new to finding out what is Hygge life.
Yoga or Meditation. These are not part of my normal routine, so I had to figure out how to do this task. Today was my evening shift so it was late and the stores were closed. I may have a yoga DVD somewhere but wasn’t sure where it was stored. The energy to go searching this time of night was not there.
I’ll be honest I didn’t want to do this at all. I just wanted to sit in my Hyggekrog and read my book.
How was I going to complete this daily task?

Adding Meditation to Hygge Life
After some thought, I remembered that my Bellabeat had a meditation app built into it. I highly recommend Bellabeat for any women. It seriously is the best activity tracker and more for any woman! Click here to find the Bellabeat review.
Anyway, I picked up my phone and headed to another room so I didn’t disturb my husband in his evening routine (watching sports – any sports).
The challenge suggested 15-20 minutes of yoga or meditation. I scanned the app and was intrigued by the Seven Chakras meditation. After opening it, the description said it would help bring my “health and mental attitude into a more peaceful state”. Since I had been feeling very overwhelmed at work this week, I decided to give that one a try. It was also long enough to complete the task for this challenge – bonus!
This particular meditation was exactly what I needed. It was relaxing, peaceful and helped me let go of the negativity I had been feeling from the day. My mental state was refreshed and I had more energy for the rest of the evening.
When I started this task I thought I should either spend the time reading or just crawl into bed to forget the day’s events. After the meditation, I had released that negative energy and wanted to spend some time with my husband instead of just going to sleep.
The Connection of Meditation and Hygge Life
Hygge life promotes a lifestyle that brings calmness and comfort into your daily life. Adding yoga or meditation to your Hygge life will help you release the negativity from your day, calming the chaos for the moment.
By adding meditation to your Hygge life, you will have more energy to want to connect with others after work. This is extremely beneficial for introverts because they’ll be able to recharge quicker with a short meditation. Leaving them refreshed and ready to be more present around their loved ones.
Eliza from Wellness and Wallet talks about how to use meditation for stress relief. There is a complete list of health benefits, along with mental health benefits that Eliza talks about in her article. You should check it out!
I had forgotten about the meditation app on my Bellabeat. It was an added blessing to be able to use this helpful resource in a pinch. Do you meditate? Have you found that you want to connect with others afterward? Let me know if the comments below!
