Creating an Intentional Life | Create the Life You Want
Have you ever felt dissatisfied with life? Is there something missing? Creating an intentional life is the key to creating the life you want.
But how does one start? Where do you start?
My intentional life came naturally over many years. So much so that when I started hearing the term, “intentional living” I was shocked to find out that I had been following this path already as part of my Seeking Simple Life journey.
In one of my most recent articles about work routines, I talked about the key to being successful using work routines is using intention. It was intentionally setting up routines that work for you and drive your career goals toward success.
Intentional living requires emotional self-awareness to understand what is working, what isn’t working for you (barriers challenging your success) and finally the growth mindset to know that failures are opportunities. Starting out can be overwhelming and intimidating for some. It was for me, so I figured out what gave me my pillars of life to help me figure out where to start first.

Creating an Intentional Life
I believe that anyone can start their intentional life by making small changes to their own life, bit by bit. Our intentional life began when I started finding simple solutions to make life not so chaotic at home. I had already been using intention at work to help improve productivity for the companies I worked for.
Life was pretty chaotic for us until we intentionally found simple solutions to help maintain some of my sanity. Essentially, I was adding intention into my life bit by bit. Then the intentional living bug bit me!
Intentional living is more than adding intention into your day-to-day life. I found this out over the years. As I consciously saw the benefit of using this technique at work and at home, my mindset changed. The decisions I made were for helping others, not just myself. I wanted to positively impact their lives. That is intentional living.
As a mom, we want the world for our kids and want to guide them and nurture them for success in their own lives. We naturally do things intentionally to help them become more independent and loving people. The concept of intentional living is very much what you have been doing as a mother.
When you are struggling with a parenting issue, you seek potential solutions, try them out and learn what works and what doesn’t for that unique child of yours. This is intentional parenting.
By moving that concept to your life, you can start to create the life you want bit by bit. I’m a big believer that your life should consist of life goals, not just career goals. Sometimes all of the ideas floating around in your head can overwhelm you. It can be intimidating when you don’t know where to start, but know deep down there has to be a way that works. There is a way, and I did it bit by bit.
My biggest fear is the fear of failure, but yet over the years this fear has become less significant in my life. Why is that?
I’m not perfect. I make mistakes constantly. I fail all of the time, but I use those failures as learning opportunities. Over time my confidence to bounce past those failures has grown and I intentionally look at what didn’t work to figure out what was missing.
Life throws curveballs, but I’ve learned that sometimes those curveballs are meant to teach you something so you can grow into the person you are meant to become.
John C. Maxwell talks about the journey of intentional living in his book, Intention Living. When you start your intentional life journey you are moving from just having good intentions to living with intention. Then as you find your authentic gift by rediscovering your passions and do more with intention you start to create a life you want, a life that impacts others.
It’s my dream for you that you are able to push past the fear and intentionally take that small step towards a life you want. The benefits you will gain and the people you will impact over your journey all make this world a better place. Join me in sharing your unique gifts while you are creating an intentional life!

Hi Jacquie, I love this post! And I think that being intentional is really about being: Present in the moment, open to what experiences you are having, and aware – or conscious of what’s going on around you. I also believe that living an intentional life – or being mindful , is the best path to being happy! I write a lot about this subject on my website blog. And here’s an article I love: https://glad.is/blogs/articles/evolve-5-ways-to-be-more-intentional-with-your-life warmly, Nikki

You bring up some interesting points however, you can be present in the moment and not take action on your goals. Being mindful is a start to carving that pathway, but one needs to be intentional to take the actions for the results to happen.
