What’s the True Meaning of Heathen?
As I sit and ponder about words used in today’s world, I wonder about the root meanings and why some exist or have changed over time. The meaning of heathen got under my skin, so this became something I wanted to explore to see how I could begin to alchemize the energy. Some may want to explore what I discovered, while others are good with the dictionary. Either way, enjoy life in your way. For my journey I wondered, what’s the true meaning of heathen? This is what I’ll talk about in this article and I’ll try to find a way to alchemize energy to help you release what might be under your skin also.
What’s the True Meaning of Heathen?
Heathen in the dictionary generally has derogatory messages and warnings. Why? Because it creates separation and harmful energy in judgment towards someone. The examples given include differential expectations about someone’s religion, or spiritual practices. When I pondered this I get reminded that we all have seventy-sevens supporting our journey to help us restore our inner peace. In that article, that I wrote not long ago, I pondered sins that we are asked not to fall into; sins that clearly generate judgment opportunities and devalue ourselves and others.
We are supported; everyone is. We all have the guidance and energy from God, Divine Guides, Unconditional Love, and Unconditional Light helping us walk through life in unique empowering ways. This is a positive message of comfort for anyone.
The Root Word for Heathen
According to Oxford Languages the root word comes from an adjective meaning of heath from a Germanic; with a relationship to both Dutch and German terms or expressions. The meaning of this Old English term, hÇ£then, means “inhabiting open country”, from the base of heath.
Heath is uncultivated land, with vegetation that has a variety of purposes and traits to help that ecosystem in various ways.
The suffix of “en” according to the Britannica Dictionary first helps transform the adjective with a foundational descriptiveness of being “made of or consisting of”. The secondary translation is “to become, to cause to be, to cause, or come to have”.
The Aspects of a Heathen Journey
When we choose to grow into another version of who we want to be, we enter open country. Often when we are navigating that season of our life we may be seen as inhabiting a change within our life. Some may find this refreshing, while others may feel uncomfortable. Depending upon the perspective, the person choosing to inhabit that change in their life has come to have, and when they are navigating their journey in that season it is their to become stage.
The journey for that person may have included a perspective where it was a to cause to be situation, but if they entered new ground for their life that was different than before then they chose to let go and become a new version of who they were. In some aspects some may choose to be in the to cause aspects of a journey. This could be looking at something or someone and letting the situation settle within you, separating a part of you that desperately wanted the cause transmuted into what could be. Depending upon the aspect of perspectives you are willing to look at, you may find the to cause a blessing that you are willing to look for nourishment or new ground to explore. This is your heath and the ecosystem you are exploring could have wonderous abundance in growth and opportunities. If you choose to transmute the to cause moment into a to cause to be, or to become you are on a manifestation for abundance journey your inner spirit was asking for.
From a broader perspective, the made of or consisting of, could be first shown relating to creation itself. Our world was open country that became inhabited by animals and humans. We are made of and consisting of open country that we are inhabiting. The creation of this is reflective of our journey within, on Earth. This doesn’t cast any shadow upon God. It just means that we, as humans, when we are exploring how to naturally expand and venture into new areas of our life, we are following the natural path of how Creation evolved over time and how we are empowered to grow into new aspects of, what could be considered, a heathen journey.
As for our lineage, we are made of or consisting of traits of those families we are either born into and are raised by. In God’s eyes they aren’t heathens, but have helped our life become possible. The moment we were conceived the vision for us inhabiting new uncultivated lands was there. It just was. What we could do with our life was filled with abundant possibilities.

The Journey as a Pioneer
When a person is expanding into higher forms of themselves; a stretch into new ways of thinking or doing, there is open possibilities as to what that may look like. You get to explore how comfortable you are and get to see what is available for seeds of knowledge, nourishment for the journey, and what could grow in abundance.
Some may not understand and be taken back. This is a mirror for that person in their journey. It happens, and although some may not have used the term heathen towards someone, judgement projecting towards another is generally based upon a reflection of what could be for the person judging. If this has happened to you, where you may have judged someone, my recommendation is to review if there is a to cause energy surrounding it. If so, then a forgiveness journey via the Law of Forgiveness is possible if you want to venture and inhabit a new season of your life where you get to see what new growth and a land of possibilities could bring for your life.
When a person ventures into many new uncultivated lands and their life becomes wonderous seasons of opportunities, those around them may not recognize who that person is anymore or feel they don’t fit into their life. If this has happened to you, where you felt people abandoning you for creating changes in your life. Their journey just looks different, and the value they brought to your life was positive. If you can find a way to reflect that in how you meet with them, this may help bridge the gap you and they may perceive. For those that may have felt left behind, you aren’t. Your journey, like everyone’s, is uncultivated land filled with unique opportunities. When we think of this and then look for a higher perspective the vision from above is abundant fields of opportunities being stitched together like fields in bloom as we explore how to help each other by emulating the changes we are making within our lives.
The world as it has been, has grown and we are rising up into higher forms of ourselves. We are making positive changes in our lives and the magnitude of abundance that ripples around the world is helping people look at shadow aspects of who they are, wanting change within their life also. Judging another creates a downward intention that deepens shadow within, and if the person accepts that judgment then they too can deepen while being hurt by the intention. This is deepening and the accumulation of the intentions among society is how I believe the word heathen changed from being filled with opportunity, to being steeped in judgment and creating separation.
This is the journey that was, but it doesn’t need to be this version of a pioneer journey. You have the power to choose a journey that is reflective of how you want to live.
In the world I envision for us, I see people venturing into new opportunities of growth and abundance. I see heathen transmute into being heath-en. We have the opportunity to inhabit a new way of being open to possibilities through transmuting to cause into to cause to be, to become and come to have. This is a manifestations for abundance that has directional changes in your life filled with prosperity.
What is your heart-centered desire that comes to mind for your heath-en journey?
What uncultivated opportunities await for you?
